Hello and thank you for subscribing to
Well. Done. I’m so happy you’re here.

What is Well. Done?
…And in a sea of newsletters and social content, why have I launched it now? I’ve been a food and health writer for over 20 years and in truth, it got to the point where I couldn’t not start writing a newsletter – I just had too much to say about the food, health and wellness bullsh*t I encounter at work and on social media every single day.
If you care about health, food and nutrition then there is a huge amount of information now available to us all and at all times. But it can be confusing, contradictory, overwhelming and often unhelpfully inaccurate if you are trying to navigate it alone – which is not just frustrating: it can sometimes even be dangerous. Worse still, some of it is paid for or promoted by industries or businesses that have a vested interest in their version of the facts being the best known.
That’s the problem Well. Done. is designed to solve. I can’t keep cornering people at parties to explain that actually, no, seed oils are not inflammatory, or that food intolerance blood tests are based on flawed science, or that menopause supplements made from tiny quantities of 30 different botanicals haven’t been shown to be either safe or effective. There’s a better way, and this is it.
Well. Done. takes science-based approach to health and food fads, doing all the hard research work (which I love) so that you can make truly informed decisions about how to look after yourself, or your family.
Expect me to answer questions like: Is there any evidence for collagen supplements, or do collagen makers pay a lot of influencers a lot of money to say they work (or both)?
Or: Is being able to buy an online test for every health condition imaginable a good use of our money, or are the makers of these tests just manufacturing health insecurities for profit?
Or: Why is the London Underground and the side of every bus in the country suddenly plastered with adverts for wellness products?
Or: Is it legal to advertise GLP-1 drugs everywhere online? (It is not.)
And: What is it about modern life that means so many of us have allergies?
I want all of us – especially women – to be empowered with really good, solid information. I want us to be able to take control of our health and wellbeing, rather than being endlessly marketed at by industries which are very good at using science-y sounding language to make us feel uncertain about what we should be doing to look after ourselves, so that we buy their products and feel as though we are doing what we ‘should’ do for our health, how we look and how we age.
Well. Done. is a place where you can expect science-based, thoughtful and hopefully fascinating pieces of writing designed to counteract the misinformation and pseudoscience to which we are all so over exposed. It’s probably not going to stop me hectoring people at parties. But you should be able to access trustworthy information and decide what to do with it. This is where you can.
